Details are coming in about a horrific shooting in Aurora, Colorado.

Reuters reports that a figure in a gas mask opened fire on the crowd outside a mall theatre in the Denver suburb. The perpetrator also set off a smoke or tear gas bomb.

Police estimate right now that 30 to 40 people have been injured. 10 have been killed.

UPDATE: 9 News Denver reports that 10 people have been confirmed dead and 39 people have been transported to the hospital in the wake of the shooting. It cites police chief Dan Oates.

UPDATE II: A 9 News reporter now says that a suspect is in custody.
